Kenneth Burgess - Board Member

Kenneth Burgess, III was born in Midland and a graduate of the New Mexico Military Institute and University of Texas of the Permian Basin. He moved back to Midland in 2020 after living for 12 years in Amarillo, Texas. He is married to Crystal Burgess and has one child named Jelani. Kenneth has about 17 years of experience working in banking in commercial lending primarily at First Capital Bank of Texas (now Prosperity Bank). Kenneth is now retired from banking and is focused on philanthropy and his family. He is a big supporter of JA having served on the board in Amarillo with High Plains Junior Achievement for many years prior to moving back to Midland.

 

Karmen Bryant - Board Member

Karmen Hendrix Bryant, a Midland, Texas native, is renowned for her philanthropy and community service. Inspired by her parents' values of generosity, Karmen has significantly supported numerous non-profits in West Texas, helping them achieve financial goals and drive social change.

She is a managing member of KHB Energy, LLC, and president of the Bryant Family Foundation. Her fundraising expertise has been instrumental in raising millions for local causes. Karmen studied journalism at the University of Arkansas, graduated from Midland High School in 1994, and worked for the Austin American-Statesman and Fox Television before returning to Midland in 2000.

Karmen's life exemplifies dedication to community service, showcasing the impact of individual philanthropy.

 

Genene DeLeon COO - Board Member

Meet Genene DeLeon, a dynamic leader currently serving as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of My Community Credit Union. With an impressive tenure of nearly 15 years at My Community, Genene has ascended through various roles, showcasing her dedication and expertise in the financial industry.
Genene's journey in the Financial Services sector spans close to two decades, starting from her roots as a standout teller. In the early stages of her career, she was recognized as the Best Teller of the Permian Basin, reflecting her commitment to excellence.
Hailing from Odessa, Texas, Genene has a deep connection to her community. However, she presently calls Midland home. Her academic achievements include an MBA from UTPB, a testament to her commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Genene finds joy in spending quality time with family and friends. She and her husband share a passion for exploring new destinations, making travel an integral part of their life.
Genene's commitment to community involvement is evident in her roles as Secretary on the Board for Junior Achievement and President of the Permian Chapter of Credit Unions Board. Through these positions, she actively contributes to shaping the future of financial education and credit union initiatives in the region.
With a blend of experience, education, and community engagement, Genene DeLeon embodies leadership excellence in the financial industry, making her a valuable asset to My Community Credit Union and the broader community she serves.

 

Jose Sosa - Board Member

Jose Sosa is associated with Frost Bank and holds the position of Vice President. He is based out of Midland, Texas, United States. Mr. Sosa has been with Frost Bank since 2019 and previously served as an Assistant Vice President. He is an alumnus of Texas Tech University - Rawls College of Business. Prior to his tenure at Frost Bank, he was an Associate Relationship Manager II at the bank and also held positions at First National Bank of Fort Stockton.
